Back in black (and white)
I have almost 4 pages on the next chapter of HSII! It should be up really soon. I'm sorry for making you guys wait so long. It's amazing how inspiring good music and wonderful fans can be. C:
Love, Hate, Love -- Alice in Chains: OOC psycho GM, but I love this song. Plus, these lyrics (I still love you, but I still burn) fit in nicely with chapter three.
The Game -- Disturbed: GM wants to play another game and he's fucking mad. Better run, Val.
Snow White Queen -- Evanescence: Another obsessive song. GM wants his queen back. C:
Going Under -- Evanescence: It's not easy having a manipulative stalker/psychopath after you. YAY!ANGST.
Haunted -- Evanescence: This perfectly captures how Val is feeling when she hears that creepy song dedicated to her at the Party Depot.
Somebody Help Me -- Full Blown Rose: I really like the instrumentals on this song, although the lyrics can get a little annoying. The opening lyrics, though, are absolutely perfect! (I'm not a victim, I'm not a freak)
I Think I'm Paranoid -- Garbage: The song Mary is singing to in chapter one. Unlike Val, I happen to like Garbage a lot, and who DOESN'T like a bit of (not so) healthy paranoia?
Killer -- The Hoosiers: From GM #2's perspective. The song's mocking but slightly wonky.
Addicted -- Kelly Clarkson: I heard this on the radio while shopping the other day and things immediately popped into my mind. First, it was Twilight (which I happened to be reading at the time) and the other was Val's and GM's twisted relationship. Oh, sure. She pretends to hate him but you know deep down she lives for the attention.
The Bondage Song -- London After Midnight: LOL. Well, this is another one of my favorite bands. If She Wants Revenge and The Cure had a lovechild, LAM would be it. I immediately thought of chapter twelve. I have no idea what the deal is with the guy saying "I'm innocent" at 1:48, though.
Your Best Nightmare -- London After Midnight: Perfect description of GM, ne?
Secret Sorrow -- Pao: This is the ending song to X/1999, if I remember correctly. I've never watched the anime, but the song is absolutely beautiful. A translation of the lyrics is available here. Val's guilt about having feelings for GM and painful memories about James. (Don't cry, no one blames you for loving someone)
Break Me Shake Me -- Savage Garden: Oh, GM. She was perfectly content to hate him and then what does he do? He volunteers to protect her. What a shithead.
Comatose -- Skillet: There's a thin line between love and hate, and GM is doing the Irish jig on it.
Falling into Black -- Skillet: Val's being coerced into playing the black queen again, and she doesn't like it.
Vermilion pt. 2 -- Slipknot: I love how there's two parts to this song! The first one is on the first Horrorscape soundtrack thingie because it's so much more violent. GM kind of tones himself down more in this chapter. He finds Val incredibly frustrating and doesn't know how to deal with her. He's still working through some major issues from his adolescence. Poor GM. He just needs a hug. And a therapist.
Casualty -- Snake River Conspiracy: Val can't get close to anyone because she knows he's still out there, waiting, and willing to hurt anyone gets too close.
Aquarius -- Within Temptation: Did you know GM is an Aquarius? His birthday is January 31st. C:
